24th July 2012
Another fine warm start with patchy cloud cover , a good day and hopefully without the strong breeze we had yesterday .
21st July 2012
Saturday morning and someone`s switched the lights on , Clear skies and the river is in good order .
20th July 2012
Friday morning and although the river appears unchanged it has dropped following a lift which occurred following yesterdays picture . At present the level is good and falling slowly , colour is good . The following pictures are of fish caught yesterday afternoon czech nymphing , most falling to a peeping caddis .
19th July 2012
Thursday morning and the river has dropped and the colour has improved ( very strong tea ,no milk ) not ideal , czech nymphing the margins is an option . The outlook looks good for the weekend .
18th July 2012
24 hrs later and following heavy overnight rain the river has lifted once more , and with more rain forecast today , I expect tomorrows picture will be similar . The colour is currently poor .
17th July 2012
Due to moderate rainfall yesterday the river is slightly up on yesterday and importantly the colour is good .
16th July 2012
Monday morning and the stones are visible for the first time in an age !! indicating the river is currently settled . I have already seen more rising fish this morning than I did throughout all of last week .
13th July 2012
Friday morning and the river continues to drop slowly , the current level will offer opportunities for all methods today .
12th July 2012
The river has fallen slowly during the last 24 hrs and with a dry day ahead , I expect this to continue .
11th July 2012
Surprisingly despite the heavy rain yesterday the river although slightly up , hasn`t suffered too badly and will fish albeit probably to Czech nymphs for any measure of success .
10th July 2012
A grey misty and damp start with light rain this morning , however the river is looking good and continues to fall slowly with a good colour .
06th July 2012
Friday morning and the river continues to fall slowly despite the heavy showers that have fallen this week , however with an amber flood warning in place for the North of England today , the picture may well look different in the morning . Presently the river is fishable and has fished well for those anglers that have braved the showers this week .
05th July 2012
The river is falling once again after peaking in the early hours , colour is reasonable and does offer nymphing opportunities ,
04th July 2012
The river is slightly down on yesterday and is responding to deep fished nymphs , these two fell to a tungsten headed pheasant tail .
03rd July 2012
The river is currently steady following another small lift of water , slightly up on yesterday at this time , but colour is the same ( strong tea no milk ) . I caught seven fish yesterday and lost a very good fish over 2lb . All of them fell to either a size 14 jig hooked tungsten pheasant tail (point fly) and a pea green gold ribbed czech nymph (middle dropper ) fished czech style , no fish took the top dropper a sedge pupae . Fished 6` out from the bank in 3` of water , approx 50 yd pocket . I had fished up this piece of water with spiders and small nymph to no avail , so rigged up as mentioned and fished the same piece of water again , and caught straight away .
02nd July 2012
Monday morning and the river is falling slowly , importantly the colour is good and fishable which is surprising considering the weekend we`ve had .
