Another cold start however temperatures are rising quicker in the sun , weather remains dry and good fish continue to be landed and lost and all seem to have overwintered well ,  as can be seen from the picture above .

Peak hatches of Olives and March Browns continue to be centred around 2pm , resulting in exciting dry fly tactics during which is often over all too briefly for the unprepared , with fish reluctant to show interest following the hatch !

Monday 12th APRIL 2021

A beautiful morning and a hard frosty start .

Sunday 11th April 2021

Light covering of snow overnight ! Bright cold start .

Friday 09 th April 2021

This afternoon saw increased fish activity as good hatches of Browns stirred a frenzied surface activity resulting in lots of chances to connect with an overwintered beauty as seen .

March Brown ( Rithrogena germanica ) in the hand , large hatch today 1400 pm resulting in responsive activity resulting in witnessing a hard battle lost with a good fish not seen !!!
Other battles won !

Stunning fish in excellent condition .

Friday morning  0830  and a bright start , and the  river remains settled .

Yesterday I caught up with one of our member during a hatch of Olives and March Browns  which resulted in two fish returned .

Wednesday 07th April 2021

A cold bright start ,  air temperature is 3 degrees and water is 4 degrees as of 0900 am . Good sighting of an Osprey yesterday afternoon  hunting the river on its way north from its wintering grounds possibly in Africa .

Thursday 1st April 2021

Thursday morning 0900 am , grey skies and a cold 8 degrees , otherwise the river is in good shape .
