Opening Day 25th March 2013

Winter still has a firm grip with a cold easterly wind keeping temperatures down . Been out this morning top to bottom and unsurprisingly I found no anglers braving the conditions .Its a shame as last week saw some good hatches of Large Dark Olives with a good number of fish feeding on the top , a welcome sight after the last few months .

After lunch I found Malcolm Hunter braving the elements downstream and being rewarded for his efforts with a nice fish he had seen rising to olives , however having covered this fish unsuccessfully with a dry the fish fell to a Waterhen Bloa . As you can see a good number of olives were showing and the cold weather was rendering them immobile and at the mercy of the ducks and gulls , very few fish moving to them though compared with last weeks activity I suspect largely due to the cold easterly wind .
